Interested in applying for a college scholarship?

The Galt Youth Commission Scholarship is awarded to an individual(s) who exemplifies dedication to the community through service.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS AND RULES

 

Scholarship open date: February 5, 2025 - April 2, 2025

Award(s):       Scholarship amounts: 4 -$500; 2 -$1,000

 

Eligibility:       This scholarship is available to Galt Joint Union High School District seniors who will be enrolled at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/

technical school for the 2025-26 school year. There is no fee associated with this scholarship.

 

Application Process: The applicant is required to submit the following:

 

 Galt Youth Commission Scholarship Application

Essay: Original 300-500-word essay addressing the following prompt: Community service can be a rewarding experience where you not only make an impact on the community but also learn something about yourself. Write about how your volunteering experience changed you as a person and how your service benefited the community. Include a specific example.

Submission and Deadline: The Galt Youth Commission Scholarship Application and required documents must be received by April 2, 2025 at the City Clerk's office, 380 Civic Drive, Galt. Semi-finalists may be called in for an oral interview following review of applications.

 

 

Notification & Award of Scholarship: The recipient will be notified at Senior Awards Night. Scholarship winners will also be recognized at the Senior Awards Night. The scholarship is awarded after the recipient submits verification of enrollment in an accredited institution for the 2025-2026 school year.

 

 

Award Forfeiture and Redemption Deadlines: In the event the recipient does not graduate from high school or does not enroll as a student in an accredited institution for the 2025-2026 school year, the Scholarship will be forfeited. All scholarships must be claimed within one year of award by providing documentation to the Galt City Clerk.
